Monday 15th june tee off 12.30pm.
Fortunately the predicted bad weather missed us and play was in perfect conditions, as was the course. Our team of 9 pairs (plus two reserves Gerald Evans and Derek Shadrack who regrettably played on their own – unable to get a pairing) all had a great day, competitive, but friendly. No wins to report. Some close encounters though losing by just 1 on 3games. Dave Newman’s partner struggled through the match with back problems! They lost 4 & 3. One pairing lost 6 & 4 (to pars and birdies) our excuse is, they knew the course too well! Rob Walters, well worth a mention, birdie on the 8th – par 3 stroke index 8, – 131yards over water and bunkers, finished 5foot right of pin, leaving him with a knee jerking right to left downhill putt – executed to perfection 2 nett 1—WELL DONE ROBBO.
The team may have lost, but it is all good experience and we can only get better. Looking forward to the return match on 3rd August.
PS. First class meal beef bourguignon (stew) and greens, a large selection of puddings. (and a pretty waitress – not as pretty as our Katie!). However,we did win 3 bottles of wine on the raffle so it wasn’t a complete loss after all.
