Monday 28 September 09 – Seniors v Haverfordwest at home– ‘Third time lucky’, I was beginning to think this ‘Friendly’ was doomed never to happen! As it turned out, it was probably one of the best matches of the season, every game going to the 17th or 18th for the deciding win – “Great Stuff”
Haverfordwest were short of one player so our reserve Terry Priest made up the pairing – wouldn’t you believe it – yes he played a blinder – beating Les Burgoyne and Denzil Roberts. The end result we lost 4 & 2. That’s the last of the friendly’s, another match where we came close second.
On reflection though, they were all enjoyable and we made new contacts and hopefully we will do it all again next year.
Our record on the raffle wins is still unbeaten – 5 out of 6 prizes to the home side (Derllys)– almost embarrassing, so its not all bad news.
A footnote:- The Captain, Dick Cross, complimented us on the condition of the course and well worth the 180 miles (three trips from Haverfordwest) travelling to play it.
